Project Manager Property/Construction - Palmerston North

We are looking for a Project Manager Property/Construction to join our Palmerston North office. Construction administration, project management and construction oversight as required to a wide range of small and medium-sized buildings projects, ensuring compliance with Building Code, relevant standards, Client requirements and in line with the WSP Opus Project Management Framework.

You will manage and assist, or procure and manage deliverables on projects for clients, including the investigation, analysis, design, and contract documentation through to construction observation and close out for buildings projects. You will utilise and continue to develop your project management skills to add value to the wider team through mentoring, guidance and technical review.

The opportunity:
  • Develop strong working relationships with Clients to deliver positive project outcomes and assist in the development of future business opportunities.
  • Engage with stakeholders to develop project briefs and manage overall design delivery to ensure programme and quality objectives are met.
  • Manage Tendering processes to procure contractors on behalf of Clients, ensuring due diligence, complying with best practice and the Client’s own tendering processes where required.
  • Undertake construction supervision and contract administration, managing variations, payment claims, quality processes etc.
  • Ensure that project budgets are developed and well communicated, and costs controlled.
  • Provide timely and clear communications to ensure all parties remain up to date and avoid misunderstanding of changing outcomes (programme, cost, scope etc.).
  • Build internal networks to facilitate mutually beneficial sharing of resources and skills

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in project or construction management; or Significant industry practical experience.
  • Approximately Five years’ experience in active project management of buildings projects.
  • Working knowledge of NZS 3910 and the Building Code.
  • Able to self-manage and work to deadlines to prioritise conflicting demands and see tasks through to completion
  • Able to work effectively and competently with people at all levels; be a team player to build and maintain relationships.
